The Recent and Upcoming Concerts in Japan

Japan is a country that loves all kinds of music. They show this by supporting and opening their many stages to all types of musical acts, whether it be a classic rock show, the newest house music, or one of those famous orchestras. It would be quite tedious to backtrack all the artists and musical groups that have performed in Japan but going through the recent concerts of the past months as well as the upcoming concerts in the following months, you will still be able to see just how wide diverse the selection of concerts are in Japan.

The Concerts That Happened in Japan 

There are many stages scattered all over Japan. You can easily find a number of these concert-worthy areas in places like Shibuya, Chiyoda-ku, Odaiba, Ebisu, Marunouchi, Udagawacho, Maruyamacho, and many other locations in Japan. Some of them have musical halls. Others are big clubs like Club Camelot.

In the month of June 2017, there were already a lot of famous artist have performed in Japan. A couple of artists you may know and recognized because of their fame and status are the likes of Britney Spears and Sting. Britney actually performed twice in Japan for the month of June 2017. Her first concert event held June 3 and the venue was in the Yoyogi National Gymnasium located in Shibuya, Tokyo. A couple of days later, specifically on June 6, she held another concert in the Osaka Castle Hall which is located in Chuo-ku, Osaka. Joe Summer, a member of the band known as STING, also perform a number of times in the month of June. He performed a total of 3 times during this particular month. The first two times were on June 6 and 8. These two concerts were held in the same venue which was the Nippon Budokan in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. His third concert happened on June 10 and this one was held in the Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium.

Artists like David Guetta, The Pillows, Scandal, Tsuri Bit, SILENT SIREN, and X Japan also performed a number of times during this month. These artists all have different sounds to the music they create and having all these concerts happen in one month really showcases the point that Japan appreciates all types of music. Japan also shows great support for their local music scene and this can be seen through the repetitive concerts performed by their local artists in a span of a couple of months.

The bands like X Japan, SILENT SIREN, SCANDAL, and many others have played in the month of June but if you look at the performances for the month of July, August, September, and October for the year of 2017, you are sure to encounter more concerts from them. The only thing that changes is where they perform and the title of the tour they are on. Other notable international artists, specifically Justin Bieber, also performed in Japan during these months. He held his concerts during the 4th Saturday and Sunday in the month of September which was the 23rd and 24th day of that month.

The Concerts that Happened in Japan from November to December of 2017

For the month of November and December in 2017, all kinds of concerts and music festivals were held. Specifically, in the month of November, artists like Linkin Park, Alt-J, BIGBANG, Crossfaith, Tohoshinki, and The Shins performed on different stages found all over Japan. As you can see from this line-up of concerts, the variety of choices is never become issue because there is a concert for every genre of music you may be creative for at any given time.

Linkin Park is a famous rock band from the 90’s and they continue to create great music. They recently got the attention of the media because of the tragic passing of their lead singer but despite this heartbreaking loss for their band and the world, they are still going at it with their music. They performed 3 times in Japan, all in the month of November and were all held in the same venue, which was the Makuhari Messe.

For the month of December and with Christmas, this month was jam-packed with all kinds of wonderful musical performances and concerts. If you search for the scheduled concerts for this month, you will see that the regular bands and musical groups like BIGBANG and GOT7 were held concerts on the different stages of Japan.

Don’t worry though because there are also a couple of very famous international artists that are set to give you and the people of Japan a glimpse of their talents live on stage. These artists are the likes of Shawn Mendes and Harry Styles, who used to be a member of the British boy band called “One Direction”. That boy band made the world crazy at a time and it is for that reason that Harry Styles concert is one that is highly anticipated in Japan. He was set to have 2 consecutive days of concerts and both were held at the Ex Theatre Roppongi.

As for Shawn Mendes, who has been killing the music industry with his recent singles that have been reaching the top of a number of these music charts, his concert was scheduled to happen on the 18th of December in the Tokyo International Forum Hall A. if you are into pop music, you surely enjoy his concert because his brand of music is the type to make your feet sway and sing along even if you don’t know all the lyrics. That type of music for a concert is a great kind because it gets the crowd involved and moving due to its catchy rhythm and words.

The Concerts in Japan that are Scheduled to Happen in 2018 

You’ll be glad to know that the concerts scheduled for 2018 are still comprised of many famous artist that create wonderful music. To name some of these well-known artists, there are bands like Imagine Dragons and Foster The People, who were scheduled to have their concerts in Japan during the 9th and 10th of January 2018, respectively. Imagine Dragons only played on the 9th but Foster The People had performing for three consecutive days, particularly on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of January.

Another band like Fleet Foxes. Some of the Japanese local music, like the music of the Japanese band called “Toe”, makes use of some funky instrumentals to accompany their songs. In the case of the Fleet Foxes, they use a unique type of sound. If you listen to their music closely and compare it with famous Japanese bands like Toe, it will be easy to understand why the music of the Fleet Foxes are highly appreciated in Japan. They performed on the 18th and 19th of January. Their concert on the 18th was held at the Zepp Divercity while their concert on the 18th was happened in the Osaka Big Cat.

There are much more great concerts that are scheduled throughout the months of February until April of 2018 but none of them can compete with the anticipation brought about by the announced Bruno Mars concert that is set to happen in April of 2018. His concerts will be on the 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th of April 2018 and all these concerts will happen in the Saitama Super Arena. As of now, there are still tickets available for these concerts but according to the online booking sites for these tickets, there is only about 1 to 2 percent of the tickets that are still available. Considering the seating capacity of the venue for this concert, despite the fact that there are only 1 to 2 percent of available tickets left, you may still be able to get lucky and purchase a great seat so try to book as soon as you can if you want to see Bruno Mars live in Japan during those dates.

So many concerts are scheduled to happen within the next couple of months and all of them are worth watching. If you are going to any of these events, rest assured that parking will not be an issue because Japan’s public transportation is an excellent so people will probably opt to commute. With this being said, the parking areas should be free enough for you to park if you really want to bring a car to the concert you are going to.

Judging from the variety of musical acts to be caught in Japan, it is clear that they support the music industry and they also have a passion for live music. This is great for both locals and tourists because whether you are a local in Japan or a temporary tourist, as long as you are a music lover, you will be able to find some fun and entertainment by going to these great events. All you need to know is when and where it will happen as well as if there are still tickets available for the concert you are looking out for. Try to book these in advance so that you avoid problems with obtaining a ticket to watch an artist.
